Soft Close is a mechanism, normally a hinge, hinge cover or buffer, which slows the close of a door or drawer as it is closed. The door or drawer is pushed back normally, when it reaches the last 25 degrees of closure the soft close mechanism will act, and the door will slow immediately and then close gradually and silently.

The advantages of this feature are as follows:

• No more slamming doors- the soft close will ensure that the door shuts smoothly and silently, preventing the door from being slammed against hinges and fixtures, this is especially handy if you have children or pets. Soft Close would also prevents fingers from being slammed in doors due to the door closing softly.

• Soft Close helps the maintenance and longevity of your kitchen, it will inevitally help with less stress on the hinges and hinge plates over the years, extending the life of your kitchen.

• You will have the benefit of a quiet kitchen, no more slamming doors and drawers that can be heard throughout the house.

Cut Price Kitchens offers a Soft Close option for doors across all it's ranges. Soft close hinges for the cabinets can be purchased for £28.00 for a pack of 10 or £2.80 individually. In our Cheap and Premium ranges the drawer packs are soft close as standard. Our Value ranges are standard metabox closing drawers but can be upgraded to sofr close for £5 per drawer. All prices are inclusive of VAT.

We launched two new soft close drawer systems to our Premium range from August 2013. The first will be the Excel soft close drawer system which carries 10kg more than the standard Blum Tandembox and is quieter, extends further and has a more cushioned effect.

The second option is an upgrade and is the new Blum Antaro system which has the added benefit of working on the standard drilling patterns and adds no extra drilling to the Lakes cabinet. Antaro will be supplied ina pale grey finish and become the upgrade option from Excel.
